Industrial Waste Reduction Initiatives

Food Loss Reduction in the Supply Chain

We are conscious of food loss in our business operations. The Mizkan Group has been proactively implementing a range of reduction initiatives across the entire supply chain—from raw material procuring to manufacturing, processing, and product sales.

We are reducing waste by upcycling pressed moromi (brewing mash) as livestock feed and utilizing filtered residues as fertilizer, effectively repurposing byproducts of vinegar production.

To reduce process loss, we are visualizing losses in the manufacturing process and standardizing production management.

To reduce waste in sales, we offer products to employees or donate them to food banks before they expire. We have also changed the expiration date labelling from MMDDYY to MMYY to prevent products from being disposed prematurely.

Reducing Industrial Waste

We are minimizing the moisture content of sludge generated from wastewater treatment to reduce waste output.
